Mads Kaggestad

What can the business community learn from the performance culture in modern top sports?

Mads Kaggestad is a former professional cyclist and one of Norway's most well-known cycling commentators. After his career as a cyclist, he has become a familiar face to many through his role as a cycling commentator on TV2, where he covers the Tour de France and international top cycling.

Through his experience in professional sports, Mads has gained unique insight into how a performance culture, collaboration and clear roles create results — both individually and as a team. In cycling, you depend on strong individual performances, but the greatest results are often created through structured teamwork, trust and people working towards a common goal.

Today he also works actively with public health, prevention and reduction of sick leave through Abel Helse. Together with Ole Petter Hjelle, he is also behind the podcast Hjernesterk, where topics such as physical activity, health, performance and mental strength are central.

In this post, Mads shares perspectives on:

  • performance culture in modern top sports

  • how strong teams are built

  • the importance of clear roles and collaboration

  • motivation, health and sustainable performance

  • What the business community can learn from professional cycling

The post combines stories from top sports with reflections on leadership, collaboration and performance — delivered with energy, humor and strong experiences from some of the world's toughest competitive arenas.
