Odd Langdalen chooses feed PIM – and builds for the next generation of commerce
Odd Langdalen Frukt & Grønt Engros AS is expanding its collaboration with iSYS.
After several years of using InStock WMS, the fruit and vegetable wholesaler is now using feed PIM – at the same time as the company moves from Visma Business to Business NXT.
The goal is not just a new ERP system, but a simpler and more future-oriented system architecture.
For Odd Langdalen, the introduction of feed PIM is about more than gaining better control over product information. The solution also plays an important role in the transition to Business NXT – and at the same time lays the foundation for modern e-commerce, AI and Agentic Commerce.
Less complexity in ERP
Many businesses have built up extensive product information, logic and customizations in their ERP systems over the years. When moving to a new ERP platform, it is a good opportunity to think differently.
This is precisely what Odd Langdalen does.
Instead of moving all product information and product logic from Visma Business to Business NXT, feed PIM is actively used to structure, enrich and manage product data.
This allows Business NXT to have a simpler and more streamlined setup. The ERP system can concentrate on what ERP should be best at, while feed handles the detailed product information.
The result is less complexity, clearer division of responsibilities between the systems, and greater freedom to choose new solutions later.
Freedom to choose e-commerce platform
When product information is structured in feed PIM instead of being closely linked to the ERP system, it also becomes easier to choose modern e-commerce platforms and digital sales channels.
Product data can be distributed from the feed to online stores, customer portals, marketplaces, industry databases and other channels. This means that choosing or changing e-commerce platforms does not have to mean rebuilding the entire product data base.
ERP, PIM, WMS and e-commerce can be selected based on what each solution does best – and connected through integrations.
Ready for AI and Agentic Commerce
Structured and accessible product data is also becoming increasingly important as AI takes on a greater role in how products are searched for, compared and purchased.
In Agentic Commerce, it is not necessarily just a human who visits an online store. An AI agent can search for products on behalf of the customer, check features and availability, compare alternatives and eventually complete parts of the purchasing process.
Then the product information must be structured, updated and available automatically.
Here, feed PIM takes on a new role: Product data should not only be presented nicely in an online store – it should also be able to be understood and used by AI agents and new digital sales channels .
By establishing feed as a central source of product information, Odd Langdalen is therefore building a foundation that can also be used in tomorrow's commerce.
From product data to physical flow of goods
Odd Langdalen has already used InStock WMS from iSYS for several years. With feed PIM in place, the company now has solutions from iSYS in two key areas.
feed PIM handles product information – structure, properties, enrichment, images and distribution.
InStock WMS handles the physical flow of goods – inventory, receiving, picking and other warehouse processes.
Together with Business NXT, modern e-commerce solutions and integrations, this provides a flexible architecture where the different systems can do what they do best.
PIM is equally relevant for fruit and vegetables
Odd Langdalen also shows that the need for good product data is not limited to traditional online shopping, industry, electrical or building materials.
The need for structured and accessible product information is also increasing in the fruit, vegetable and food sectors. Data should be usable by multiple systems, customers and channels – without the same information having to be registered and maintained in multiple places.
With feed PIM, Odd Langdalen has one central place for this information.
An architecture built for change
For iSYS, the project is a good example of how we believe modern system architecture should be built:
Business NXT for ERP and business processes.
feed PIM for product information.
InStock WMS for warehouse and logistics.
Optional modern platform for e-commerce.
Integrations that ensure data flows between solutions.
Structured data that makes your business ready for AI and Agentic Commerce.
This results in less complexity in each individual system – while leaving the business freer to adopt new technologies and sales channels.
For Odd Langdalen, the transition from Visma Business to Business NXT will therefore be more than an ERP switch.
It is also an opportunity to simplify today's system landscape – and build a foundation for tomorrow's trade.
